Mike Maignan has made it clear to AC Milan he wants to join Chelsea but there’s no guarantee a move happens according to Ben Jacobs.

The Blues are set for yet another busy summer and have already completed the signing of Liam Delap, and are hopeful of completing more deals before the Club World Cup deadline on June 10th.

Chelsea face a critical window and could still sign another striker, but are also looking for a centre back and right footed attacker to bolster Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Mike Maignan wants to join Chelsea

With the Delap deal done Chelsea have now turned their attention to signing a new goalkeeper and have identified Maignan as the man they want.

Chelsea made an approach to Milan earlier this week with the Italian club wanting between £20-£25m for the 29-year-old who’s only got a year left on his contract.

The Blues are said to only value Maignan at £8.5m, with the two clubs still someway apart on valuation, but there’s hope they can meet in the middle.

Chelsea ideally want to complete a deal in time for Maignan to feature in the Club World Cup and Jacobs has now provided an update.

He took to X.com and said:

“Understand Mike Maignan has told Milan he wants to join Chelsea.

“No guarantee a move happens as Milan’s £20m-£25m price remains, but the French keeper has now made it clear he wants to leave.

“Chelsea expected to place a bid to see if they can secure Maignan before the CWC.”

Maignan made 53 appearances in all competitions last season keeping 13 clean sheets, but Milan had a disappointing campaign as they failed to qualify for Europe and lost the Coppa Italia final.

Djordje Petrovic could be sold

With Chelsea looking to wrap up a deal for Maignan that increases the likelihood Djorjde Petrovic will be sold this summer.
