Chelsea’s exodus has continued with the sale of academy midfielder Tino Anjorin to Empoli.
The 22-year-old has spent each of the last three seasons out on loan, most recently winning the League One title during a 14-game spell at Portsmouth in 2024/25.
Anjorin made just five senior appearances for Chelsea and has now decided to head overseas in search of regular first-team football.
The midfielder is finalising a permanent transfer to Empoli, who finished 17th in Serie A last season. However, Davide Nicola’s side have made a strong start to the current campaign with four points from their opening two fixtures.
Chelsea have inserted a 50% sell-on clause into the deal an Anjorin becomes the latest Cobham graduate to move to Serie A in recent windows. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori (both AC Milan) and Tammy Abraham (Roma) have all left Chelsea to move to Italian football in recent campaigns.
Anjorin’s exit comes as Chelsea look to reduce an inflated squad before Friday’s transfer deadline. The Blues are also working on exits for Raheem Sterling, Romelu Lukaku, Ben Chilwell and Armando Broja, all of whom do not feature in the plans of new head coach Enzo Maresca.
