Chelsea enquire about RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba, Manchester United also interested | OneFootball

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Chelsea have enquired about Red Bull Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba (21), who has a €70m release clause in his current contract.

France international Lukeba only joined RB Leipzig in the summer on a €40m deal from Olympique Lyonnais, who were desperate to raise funds in order to avoid further punishment from the DNCG. He has since gone on to make 43 matches for the Bundesliga side and he is already attracting interest.

Foot Mercato report that Manchester United have been following Lukeba’s performances for the past few weeks, whilst in recent days, Chelsea have gone a step further in enquiring about the centre-back. However, Leipzig are not keen on parting ways with the talented prospect at the end of this season.

However, in the summer of 2025, it could be another story. Foot Mercato understands that Lukeba has a €70m release clause that becomes active at the end of next season.
