Standing at 6’4″, Matt Miazga probably doesn’t have too many people squaring up to him on a football field.

However, when it happened during USA’s 1-0 victory over Mexico on Tuesday, he couldn’t help but mock the brave soul who dared try it.

After a touchline tussle for possession, the Chelsea defender, currently on loan at Nantes, came to blows with Diego Lainez, who may only be 5’6″ but was quick to stand up his opponent. However, that was the problem.

Miazga towered over the 18-year-old and mocked the player’s height, putting a straight hand out to show the difference between the pair before looking downwards with a bemused expression.

The squabbling duo were soon separated but Miazga had already amused the watching Nashville crowd with his teasing and the damage was done.

Fair play to Lainez though, such bravery against a much larger figure should stand him in good stead for his football career.
