Chelsea put three past Arsenal to extend their lead at the top of the Women’s Super League to three points heading into the weekend.
Scorers: James 15′, Nüsken 21′, 32′; Macario (OG) 87′
After a kit clash caused the kick-off to be delayed, it was Chelsea who came out with the warmer legs.
It took just 15 minutes for Lauren James to find the back of the net to open the scoring, and the floodgates for the Blues.
James’ strike was quickly backed up by a brace from Sjoeke Nüsken to put the homes side three ahead head into the half-time break.
The goalmouth action dried up after the restart, and while a late Catarina Macario own-goal provided some consolation for Arsenal, it was too-little, too-late for the Gunners.
The win sees the Blues move three points clear of chasers Manchester City and six points clear of Arsenal.
