According to a recent report by The Sun, Premier League giants Arsenal would be willing to sell their talismanic centre-Forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for as low as £20m in the summer, so as to avoid letting him walk away for free at the end of next season. The report suggests that the Gunners could be tempted to offload him this term if a bid in the region of £20m arrives for the Gabonese forward’s signature, but that they’re even willing to let him see out his contract if a good enough offer doesn’t come as expected this summer.

Another report by ESPN has clarified Chelsea are keen on Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and that Lampard’s side have even been monitoring his situation closely. The report further suggests that the North London club are yet to offer the Gabonese striker the option of an extension, which will come as extremely worrying news for the Arsenal faithful.

By the looks of things, there isn’t a way in which Arsenal can win on the Aubameyang matter, as their options are letting him leave for a deflated price in the summer, or permitting him to walk away for free at the end of next season.

What Does Aubameyang Add To This Arsenal Attack?

The tall attacker is a centre-forward by position but can be deployed anywhere across the front-line as per requirement. Adept at finishing off chances in and around the box, the former Borussia Dortmund man also has the ability to time his runs in behind to perfection.

Despite being 30-years-old already, the forward is certainly no slouch on the ball, and he’s got the beating of most defenders in the world for pace. The striker’s goals have been priceless for the Gunners over the last two seasons, and removing them from the equation would show Arsenal in a truly terrible light.

What Makes Aubameyang An Attractive Option For Chelsea?

The addition of a proven Premier League goalscorer would go a long way for Chelsea, and signing the man that is arguably their London rival’s biggest attacking asset would be quite the statement of intent by Frank Lampard’s side. The Gabon international has been brilliant since the switch to the Emirates. If it weren’t for his timely goals across various competitions, the Gunners would definitely be struggling in terms of even competing with the rest of the ‘top six’ clubs.

The forward has scored 17 goals from 26 league appearances this season, while his European record reads three from six matches as well. Now 30, the former Borussia Dortmund man is drawing towards the final years of his long career, and it’s understandable that he’s keen on playing in the Champions League, while also aspiring to win trophies. Although the striker was one of the recipients of last season’s Premier League Golden Boot, the Europa League final defeat against Chelsea in Baku would’ve made the ending quite bittersweet for Aubameyang.

Chelsea Are Keen On Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Should Arteta Look To Cash In?

The Gabon international striker has proven over the last couple of seasons that he’s got what it takes to perform consistently at the highest level. Despite all the issues that this Gunners side have had to face over the campaigns, one constant through it all has been the former Dortmund man’s goals. It wouldn’t be surprising for him to feel hard done by at the Emirates, as a lot of the brilliant work he’s done has gone to waste.

There’s no denying that Chelsea are likelier than the Gunners to win a trophy next season. Still, given the resurgence Arsenal experienced under Mikel Arteta, they must do everything in their power to keep the veteran in North London again next season.
