Chelsea could make some money from Arsenal’s transfer pursuit this summer

In perhaps the most bizarre story that you will read today, it has been claimed that Chelsea could make some money directly from Arsenal if they manage to pull off one of their transfer pursuits this summer.

I mean, the rumour itself is a little far-fetched, I don’t believe for one minute that Tammy Abraham would ever pull on the red shirt of Arsenal, but then stranger things have happened and you can’t rule anything out in this game.

But according to super-agent Roberto De Fanti, who has been speaking to Caught Offside this week, Arsenal would be forced to pay some money directly to Chelsea IF they were to sign Abraham this summer.

It’s basically because Roma have not paid the fee to Chelsea yet for Abraham and have essentially loaned him, which is something that clubs often do with deals these days as to not pay the big fee up front.

“Although Abraham is a Roma player, the club’s sporting director confirmed to me that the deal finalised with Chelsea last summer means the striker is effectively on loan for two years before a mandatory fee has to be paid,” De Fanti said.

“Therefore, given the legalities, if Arsenal were to make a formal approach, they must do so to both Roma and Chelsea, and this is putting Arsenal off, for obvious reasons.”
