Chelsea are the latest club to be linked with AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez, reports from SempreMilan are claiming.
The 27 year old is valued at €60m by Transfermarkt, although that will start to drop quite rapidly next summer, at which point he will only have one year left on his contract. There are negotiations ongoing in Milan, but there’s a sense he may want to move on for a big pay day.
Chelsea, along with some of Europe’s other top clubs, are being linked with an attempt to sign the France international next summer, if a new deal isn’t agreed with Milan. He is asking for big money, and they’re not fully convinced by his attitude or performance.
Bayern Munich, PSG and Juventus are also mentioned as potentially interested.

This one doesn’t quite ring true to us. He’s a good player, but he doesn’t fit the model that the Chelsea sporting directors are sticking to pretty rigidly at the moment. They want young players on long contracts, not established stars brought in at the peak of their asking price.
However, as we saw with Tosin Adarabioyo this summer, the club are always willing to bend their rules to bring in a good player at a good price, and Hernandez could be next up. The issue there is that his wages are likely to be far higher than Adarabioyo, and given the issues those in charge are having right now shifting Ben Chilwell, it’s hard to imagine them getting into bed with another high waged-left back heading into their late 20s.
Marc Cucurella and Renato Veiga have established themselves as first and second choice on the left, and will likely have the rest of this season to convince everyone that no further options are needed.
