One of the better things about having Roman Abramovich as an owner was that you knew he was going to keep the club off production line of glossy web-TV sports documentaries about clubs, like the All or Nothing series on Amazon.
Despite buying the club for the protection it gave him by increasing his profile, Roman avoided the spotlight studiously.
The same can’t be said for new owner Todd Boehly who is front and centre of everything going on at the club at the moment, rarely missing a chance to flash his beautiful American smile for the cameras.
So we shouldn’t be surprised to read today that the club’s previous policy on ruling themselves out of taking part in any Netflix-y nonsense has been reversed, and now Football.London report that the new owners have an “appetite” for giving the green light.
There’s no denying it would be immensely popular, and that we would love some behind the scenes action from the club. But as we saw in every previous edition, it’s either too slick and too glossy to be interesting (Man City, Juventus); or it’s too honest and you turn your club and your manager into a series of memes (Arsenal).
