Chelsea have reportedly cooled their interest in Bournemouth defender Nathan Aké after concerns arose from various scout reports.
The Blues have been heavily linked with Aké – who spent six years at Stamford Bridge – after negotiating a £40m buy-back clause before selling him in 2017.
According to Standard Sport, senior scouts and manager Frank Lampard are harbouring doubts over his ability to play in a high defensive line.
Chelsea could still move for the 24-year-old with the January window proving notoriously difficult, but other options are also being explored.
It’s understood that Lampard will give Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma until the end of the season to prove themselves in west London.
Brighton defender Lewis Dunk, West Ham stalwart Issa Diop and Hellas Verona starlet Marash Kumbulla remain on their shortlist.
