Chelsea have been reached out to by Paris Saint-Germain over a potential blockbuster move for Neymar, according to ESPN.

Per the report, PSG are willing to let go of Neymar, whose agent Pini Zahavi is now working to identify potential suitors for the Brazilian forward five years on since his world-record move from Barcelona.

Chelsea are believed to be interested in landing Neymar despite the 30-year-old recently penning a contract extension in the French capital which ties him down to the Ligue 1 champions until 2027.

Blues defender Thiago Silva has urged his international teammate to reunite with him and Thomas Tuchel in west London following their time together in the French capital.

“He [Neymar ]has to go to Chelsea,” Silva said via Globo.

“If he is about to leave [PSG], then he must go there.

“If it happens, then the expectation is the best possible one.

“We don’t even need to talk about Neymar’s ability and besides that, he is a super friend.

“I hope this happens instead of only being something on the news, but I don’t know anything about it.”

Chelsea’s new owners are thought to be keen on making a “statement signing” this summer and Neymar would fit the bill perfectly.

However, the finances involved in any potential deal could prove to be the biggest stumbling block with Neymar currently pocketing a gross annual salary of £31.5 million without bonuses.

For context, Ngolo Kante is Chelsea’s current highest earner with a little over £15m meaning that The Blues would have to break their wage structure to bring in Neymar.

With Chelsea pursuing moves for Raheem Sterling and Raphinha, it remains to be seen how much intent the west Londoners will show towards snapping up Neymar in what would be one of the biggest Premier League transfers of the current window.
