Chelsea are reportedly considering making a move for Cristiano Ronaldo before the end of this summer transfer window.

That’s according to a story from David Ornstein of the Athletic which claims that the Blues are keen on seeing the multiple Ballon d’Or winner come to Stamford Bridge.

It was claimed over the weekend that Cristiano Ronaldo had asked to leave Manchester United as he looked to win trophies in the last few remaining seasons of his career.

That was quickly refuted by the club but earlier on Monday it was confirmed that Ronaldo would not return to pre-season training today with the rest of the squad.

Family reasons were cited for his absence but rumours the Portugal international will depart have ratcheted up with this latest bombshell report from Ornstein.

Chelsea are looking to make a statement over the next few weeks following Todd Boehly’s purchase of the club from the British government.

Boehly has reportedly held talks with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and it is believed that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel would be keen on the idea of Ronaldo joining his side.
