Chelsea considering bid for Manchester United star | OneFootball

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United has been thrown into doubt after the forward asked the club to consider any suitable offers made for him this summer.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions for United last season but he could be set to leave the club after just one season despite signing a two-year deal last year.

Rumours over his potential exit were fuelled on Tuesday when it emerged that he was set to miss training for the second day running, having been the only returning player to not report for training the day before.

Last month, it emerged that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly had met with Ronaldo’s representatives to explore the possibility of a move this summer and that seems to have developed into concrete interest now.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea are now considering a bid for United’s talisman but are waiting for clearance from manager Thomas Tuchel before making a move.

As per the report, Boehly is intrigued by the possibility of signing Ronaldo but will gauge Tuchel’s interest first. The former Paris Saint-Germain coach is believed to want a mobile and energetic striker and Ronaldo would not fit that profile.

Their big-money move for Romelu Lukaku last summer has badly backfired and it’s feared that Ronaldo could cause the same problems.

SN’s verdict… Ronaldo’s exit from United is looking increasingly likely with each passing day and although the club maintain that the player is not for sale, a protracted saga only has one winner and it’s not the club.

Ronaldo is not a stranger to a transfer saga. In fact, most summers come with one involving Ronaldo and he knows how to play it. His failure to turn up for training is, however, disappointing.

United can’t deliver Champions League football this season and that’s thought to be one of the driving factors behind his desire to leave but it remains to be seen if any club can house his high wages.
