Chelsea consider Renato Veiga for sale despite Levi Colwill’s injury with talks to advance with several clubs in the next few days according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are set for a busy end to the window as they look to close deals for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho, whilst they try and find new clubs for a number of players.

Chelsea also face the difficult decision of whether to go and sign a new centre back following the news Colwill will miss the majority of the season after suffering an ACL injury.

Several clubs keen on Renato Veiga

Enzo Maresca mentioned after the Bayer Leverkusen game on Friday night he was looking for a new centre back, but it remains to be seen what Chelsea will do.

The Blues hope Wesley Fofana will be fit for next weekend’s opener against Crystal Palace, whilst Benoit Badiashile is hoping to return to action at the start of September.

Despite seemingly being frozen out of the first team picture, there have been suggestions of reintegrating Veiga into the squad.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus in order to play more minutes in his preferred centre back position.

However, Chelsea still plan to sell Veiga, and Romano has now provided an update on his future with the end of the window getting closer.

He took to X.com and said:

“Chelsea consider Renato Veiga for sale even after Levi Colwill injury… and Veiga wants new chapter.

“Talks to advance in the next days with several clubs keen after Atléti deal off.”

Chelsea are said to value the Portugal international at €40m, and Veiga saw a move to Atletico Madrid fall through earlier this summer.

Marc Guehi an option?

If Chelsea were to go into the market the most obvious solution would appear to be Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.

Chelsea considered a move for Guehi in January, and he’s now into the final 12 months of his deal at Selhurst Park.

However, it’s been reported despite the Blues appreciating Guehi they are currently focused on other targets at this point.
