As the days go on and the negative reports continue, it looks more and more likely that Chelsea centre back Antonio Rudiger will not be signing a new contract extension at the club.

This means he is free to sign a pre-contract with any new club in January, and then quit Chelsea as a free agent come the end of June this summer.

Chelsea have a few uncertain situations at the back with contractual issues, so they will almost certainly be looking at contingency plans in case they lose a few defenders.

One player they are considering according to a report from 90min, is Villarreal centre back Pau Torres.

The 6ft 4in Spanish international has been on Chelsea’s radar for a little while says the report, and now they are looking at him to come in if they cannot get Rudiger signed to a new extension before the summer is here.
