Chelsea have confirmed the signing of central defender Mamadou Sarr from sister club Strasbourg.
The 19-year-old has signed an eight-year deal with the Blues, and joins for a fee of £12m.
He could feature for Chelsea at the Club World Cup this summer, with Enzo Maresca’s side set to kick off their tournament against LAFC on 16 June.
The youngster made 28 appearances in all competitions for Strasbourg last season, who are also owned by the BlueCo group. He helped his side to a seventh place finish in Ligue 1.
He joined the club last summer from Lyon, having also spent time on loan at RWD Molenbeek in Belgium.
Speaking about Sarr last season, Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior was full of praise for the defender: “I could talk about him for hours. His nickname is Mamadou Rosenior, he’s my son.
“It’s scary to show such performances at 19 with such calm in the face of such strong teams. He just has to stay humble and calm and he will be a top player for sure.”
It follows the signings of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and Dario Essugo from Sporting, in what looks set to be another busy summer at Stamford Bridge.
Brazilian youngster Estevao has also completed his move from Palmeiras, which had been previously agreed.
Chelsea are also hoping to complete the signing of Englishman Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
The winger played 48 times in all competitions for Dortmund last season, scoring 12 times.
AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is also a target for the Blues.
The French shot stopper has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in Europe during his four years in Serie A.
And Chelsea are hoping to agree a cut-price deal for the 29-year-old, who has just a year left on his current deal at Milan.
