Chelsea have confirmed their first departure of the January transfer window, freeing up a space in their current squad for a new player to be registered.

It’s a curious case, the case of Lewis Baker at Chelsea. He’s now 26-years old, has been on numerous loans, never featured regularly in the senior squad, but has been at the club since 2005.

Finally, he is now leaving on a permanent deal to join Stoke City, as confirmed on Chelsea’s club website yesterday.

It’s a decent move for him and he needs to now be in a club where he can settle and make a career at, after only being in Chelsea’s U23s group this season.

I’m pleased he has finally got his move to a club on a permanent deal and I hope he can show what he is capable of, because we know the clear talent he has got and will go on to show at this level I’m sure.
