Chelsea 'confident' of agreeing deal for £60m star at Stamford Bridge
What’s the latest news involving Kounde?
According to Spanish sources, Chelsea have turned their attentions back to Kounde and made contact with Sevilla after initially focusing on other targets.
The report suggests negotiations over the 11-cap France international have taken place and the Premier League side have informed Kounde’s current employers of their intention to get a deal over the line as quickly as possible.
Kounde is understood to be agitating for a move to Stamford Bridge and the delay has had an impact on Sevilla’s transfer plans, with them seeking a minimum of £56million.
The centre-half has been a long-term target for Tuchel and Chelsea came close to striking a deal when they agreed a fee with Sevilla last summer, only for the La Liga giants to have second thoughts and insist they would not offload Kounde unless his release clause was met.
Kounde has entered the final two years of his £69,000-per-week contract at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Kounde?
Jacobs understands the buyout clause written into Kounde’s Sevilla deal is just shy of £60million, meaning he could end up becoming the fourth most expensive signing in Chelsea’s history.
However, the journalist believes the Blues are eager not to part with quite so much cash and are continuing to hold negotiations behind the scenes.
Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “There were some reports out there over the last two weeks that the Kounde deal has stalled.
“But my understanding is that Chelsea haven’t given up and even though Sevilla have tried to hold out for the release fee, which I believe is €69million, Chelsea are still confident of shaving around €5million off that and coming to an agreement before the end of the window, so Kounde is still on the table.”

Why is Kounde of interest to Chelsea?
Despite doubts over his long-term future, Kounde still proved to be a key cog in Sevilla’s backline and made 44 appearances last season, while he chipped in with three goals along the way.
Although he is only 23, the Frenchman already boasts plenty of experience thanks to featuring more than 200 times at senior club level and also competing in the Champions League, which will be attractive to Tuchel.
Statistics show Kounde compared favourably to outgoing Chelsea duo Rudiger and Christensen last term, with him averaging more blocks and interceptions than the former and an increased number of tackles than the latter per 90 minutes.
