Chelsea’s interest in signing Jules Kounde is well known, and at this point it really seems like a matter of time (and figures).
His release clause s £67m, and Sevilla were holding out for that last year. But according to Matt Law’s piece in the Telegraph today, the Blues are confident that a deal can be done for a much lower fee.
Apparently, Chelsea are hopeful that a deal worth just £42m – albeit with clauses to raise it to £50m – could be enough to sign the former Bordeaux man.
Another useful snippet in there is the insistence that the sale of Kounde’s defensive partner Diego Carlos to Aston Villa won’t affect the deal.
Sevilla seem to have accepted that France international Kounde will go, and once Chelsea’s new ownership is confirmed, the negotiations can begin all over again.
Let’s hope they go a little better for us this year than they did last year.
