Chelsea complete signing of Basel's Renato Veiga

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of versatile Basel defender Renato Veiga.

The Portugal under-21 international becomes the fifth signing of the summer at Stamford Bridge in a reported €14m.

Veiga has penned a seven-year contract with the Blues in a deal that contains an additional 12-month option.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to be here,” said Veiga.

“This is one of the biggest clubs in England – the biggest for me – and I’m just really excited to get started.”

The 20-year-old will link up with Enzo Maresca’s side ahead of their pre-season campaign beginning against Wrexham in the United States on 25 July.
