Chelsea have emerged as favourites to land the signature of Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho.
The 19-year-old has been consistently linked to Manchester United and Liverpool in recent months, but the Blues appear to have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals.
The West London club had their season-long transfer ban cut in half on appeal, and they now seem prepared to splash the cash to bolster manager Frank Lampard’s youthful squad.
Numerous outlets are reporting that Chelsea are ‘close’ to wrapping up a club-record £120m deal for the England international.
Dortmund still harbour hopes of landing the Bundesliga title this season, and would rather not lose such a prize asset in January.
With that in mind, Chelsea are reportedly willing to loan the teenager back to the German club for the rest of the season.
This would be similar to the arrangement the clubs struck for the transfer of Christian Pulisic around this time last year.
Sancho moved to Dortmund from Manchester City back in 2017, and has scored 26 goals in 78 games in all competitions for Dortmund.
