Chelsea close to stealing Deco’s first top target as Barcelona director of football | OneFootball

The end of the summer transfer window saw the completion of a transition at Barcelona, with former player Deco taking over as their new sporting director.

According to Fichajes, one of his big plans to start his reign was to sign a young Brazilian talent- but Chelsea may have already beaten him to it.

We’ve heard more and more about Gabriel Moscardo in recent days, and we have to say, we love what we’ve seen. A rangy 17 year old who looks strong in the tackle as well as good on the ball, we can see why Deco has him earmarked as a future star at the base of Barcelona’s midfield.

Fichajes claim that we’re already closing in, and could soon steal the Corinthians player from under Barcelona’s noses. But we wouldn’t count our chickens just yet – Barcelona is always a huge temptation for South American players, and Moscardo may see the long list of young central midfielders signed by Chelsea in the last 12 months as an impassable obstacle.
