Chelsea have announced the signing of Brighton star Moisés Caicedo for a fee which breaks the British transfer record.

The Ecuadorian arrives from the south coast for a fee of £115m, which sees him usurp new team-mate Enzo Fernández as the most expensive signing ever by a Premier League club.

Caicedo has signed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge which includes an option to extend by a further year.

The Blues beat serious competition for his signature, with Liverpool having agreed a £110m bid for Caicedo’s services last week, only for the player to push for a move to London instead.

The £115m fee paid includes £15m in achievable bonuses, according to The Athletic, who also report that Brighton have also inserted a sell-on clause into the deal.
