Chelsea boss Lampard eager for leaders to emerge from young squad

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is eager to find more leaders from his young team.

Lampard has recruited a number of young players over the summer and while 36-year-old defender Thiago Silva is a ready-made leader for the Blues, the Chelsea boss is hopeful more of the squad can show their growing confidence and step up.

"I want them to grow as leaders in the group," Lampard said.

"There are tough times and you want them to push each other. You need to have character. Hakim (Ziyech) has a confidence about him.

"I encourage personality within the group."
