Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has "always had a desire" to bring Jude Bellingham to Stamford Bridge, journalist Simon Phillips revealed to GIVEMESPORT.

Bellingham is subject to much interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs, but Phillips hints the Borussia Dortmund midfielder could be out of reach for the Blues.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have already started putting the framework in place to try and lure Bellingham to west London in the summer transfer window.

The report claims Bellingham, who has been tipped as a "future England captain", is the most sought-after midfielder in world football, with various clubs vying for his signature.

Among those are Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid, with Chelsea said to be outsiders in the race to land the ex-Birmingham City academy product.

It's claimed by The Telegraph that Bellingham will leave Dortmund in the summer and Chelsea want to make sure they're in the conversation, should an opportunity arise.

Initial estimates from the Daily Star suggest Dortmund could demand close to £100 million for Bellingham's signature - a transfer fee Chelsea would no doubt be able to match.

Having spent over £550 million in the two windows since taking over, Boehly hasn't been afraid to splash the cash, with some suggestions a big-money move for Bellingham might be just around the corner.

What has Phillips said about Bellingham to Chelsea?

Already embroiled in a multi-club transfer saga stretching across the continent, Bellingham's rise to prominence has been sharp, and the 19-year-old looks set for a long and successful career in the game.

Bellingham is said to have caught the eye of Chelsea's owner Boehly, with journalist Phillips tipping the Blues to enter the race for the midfielder.

On the England international, Phillips told GMS: "Boehly has always had a desire to sign Bellingham, but it's always seen as unrealistic because Bellingham has other preferences ahead of Chelsea.”

How would Bellingham fit into Chelsea's midfield?

With Jorginho having already departed SW6 in a £12 million move to Arsenal, and N'Golo Kante and Mason Mount's contract talks continuing to stall, Chelsea could be in need of a midfield rebuild when the window opens in the summer.

Part of Chelsea's midfield rebuild was completed in January, with Enzo Fernandez joining the Blues in a dramatic deadline-day move worth a British-record £106.8 million fee.

And it appears, if reports are to be believed, Chelsea could be forced into paying a similar fee for Bellingham, should they land the teenage starlet.

Of course, Bellingham partnered alongside Fernandez is a frightening midfield duo, but the chances of that happening remain slim.

It's no surprise, given his potential in the future, Chelsea want to be in the conversation for Bellingham, it just appears unlikely the player will want to be in the conversation with them.
