Chelsea are blocking Aston Villa’s attempts to sign Axel Disasi (26), according to a report from L’Équipe.
Currently playing a bit-part role at Stamford Bridge, France international Disasi had looked set for a transfer before the closure of the transfer window on Monday. Aston Villa have made the signing of the former AS Monaco centre-back a priority, whilst the player himself has also prioritised a move to the Birmingham-based club.
However, L’Équipe understands that, for now, Chelsea are refusing to let the player leave. The London-based club – for reasons not specified – are currently holding up the deal. However, Aston Villa, as well as Disasi himself are hoping that a solution can be found quickly so that the transfer can be completed before Monday’s deadline.
The Frenchman’s current contact with The Blues runs until the summer of 2029. Aston Villa have been in the market for a centre-back this month, especially since the departure of Diego Carlos.
