MANCHESTER CITY HIT SIX PAST BRISTOL CITY

Bristol City 0-6 Manchester City:

Last year’s winners Manchester City hit six past Championship side Bristol City.

Despite having home advantage, Bristol City could not control the attacking stars of Manchester City and Australian international Hayley Raso scored two goals in the opening 12 minutes.

It was an uphill battle for Bristol from there, with Khadija Shaw adding another goal to her already impressive tally this season to make it three.

Lionesses’ European Championships winner Lauren Hemp faced her former team and scored twice either side of a Mary Fowler strike to put her team through.

WEST HAM LEAVE IT LATE TO BEAT LIVERPOOL

Liverpool 0-1 West Ham United:

West Ham United advanced into the semi-finals of the Continental Cup as Dagny Brynjarsdóttir headed home an enticing cross from forward Viviane Asseyi late on.

It was a tightly contested game but Liverpool could not find a breakthrough, with manager Matt Beard failing to beat the side he used to manage in what many dubbed the ‘Matt Beard derby’.

CHELSEA VICTORIOUS OVER LONDON RIVALS SPURS

Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Chelsea:

Emma Hayes’ Chelsea side came out victorious over their London rivals Tottenham.

Sam Kerr broke the deadlock in unusual circumstances after Erin Cuthbert’s strike deflected off her to take it past Tottenham goalkeeper Tinja-Riika Korpela.

Spurs could not bounce back and in the 68th minute, Lauren James skipped past the Tottenham defence to cut it back to Fran Kirby who slotted it home.

Kerr made it a brace after chipping the ball beyond Korpela to make it 3-0. However, Tottenham showed some late fight with former Chelsea player Drew Spence striking the ball perfectly from long-range to add a consolation goal.

Despite the quarter-final defeat, Tottenham loanee signing Mana Iwabuchi made an impressive debut for the club.

FRIDA MAANUM ON FIRE FOR ARSENAL

Arsenal 3-0 Aston Villa:

Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum was the outstanding performer in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

Maanum scored twice and was involved in the third goal, combining with Arsenal striker Caitlin Foord.

The game also saw Arsenal Manager Jonas Eidevall utilise his squad depth by bringing on three January new signings.

As for Aston Villa, former Arsenal star Jordan Nobbs received a warm ovation on her return to the club but was unable to spark a comeback for her Villa side.
