Chelsea Barclays Women’s Super League champions, Reading relegated | OneFootball

Chelsea clinched the Barclays Women’s Super League title and in doing so sent Reading down, Arsenal secured the third UWCL place on goal-difference.

Chelsea put themselves on course for the title inside 20 minutes, when Sam Kerr netted from a cross by Guro Reiten, who doubled the lead herself before half time. Kerr added a late third when following up her own effort onto the post.

Nikita Parris almost got Manchester United in front in first-half stoppage-time but Rachel Laws tipped the half-volley into the far post. Lucia Garcia came off the bench to swiftly fire United in front in the 72nd minute.

Arsenal were behind just before the interval, Rachel Daly giving Aston Villa the advantage from close range. Alisha Lehmann doubled the lead soon after the interval as Villa had a great end to a best-ever season. The Gunners finished clear of Manchester City by a margin of eight on goal-difference.

Khadija Shaw broke the deadlock for Manchester City and Lauren Hemp hit their second against Everton on the hour mark. Shaw got her second as Hemp provided the opportunity again. Lucy Hope and Leonie Maier pulled goals back for the Toffees.

Bethany England headed Spurs in front from a Rosella Ayane cross but West Ham turned it around late in the first half, Emma Snerle equalising and Kit Graham conceding an own-goal. England headed home to make it 2-2 early in the second half, Ayane again with the assist.

Leicester City went one up at Brighton in the last 17 minutes, Ava Baker scoring via Sam Tierney’s corner. The result saw the Foxes leapfrog Albion on goal-difference into tenth spot.
