Christopher Nkunku remains very much up for sale, despite having gone to the Club World Cup and featured surprisingly often there for Chelsea.
The attacker was never really in favour with Enzo Maresca, and the addition of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer should push him even further from our first team plans.
The Athletic’s deal sheet claims that Nkunku is “again a target for Bayern Munich,” who have failed to secure top targets Nico Willians and Florian Wirtz this summer. Chelsea will only consider a permanent deal for the Frenchman, and it’s not clear if their asking price will be too large for Bayern to swallow.

Chelsea are reported to have asked for £65m for Nkunku in January. They might have to get more realistic than that. It feels unlikely Bayern will pay that, and there isn’t much interest in Nkunku from anywhere else.
So far the club seem happy to slow roll the deal until later in the summer and see what interest sparks up. But they could potentially end up with an unhappy player on their hands.
Another interesting note in the piece is about Nicolas Jackson. The striker is apparently “not considered ‘untouchable'” now that Chelsea have added two other strikers, and the increasing rumours
If Nkunku goes for a big fee and we’re able to find a home for Joao Felix, then Arsenal swoop for Noni Madueke, it feels like Jackson then becomes too important to lose. But with these sporting directors, anything is possible.
