Despite their big spending across the last three transfer windows since the new owners took control of the club, Chelsea are already planning on spending even more money in the next window.
We have all seen what they have lacked so far this season, and that is exactly what it says in the title of this article, an established goalscorer.
Sources: Chelsea checking in weekly on their former player ahead of a potential move to re-sign him!
And according to insider Ben Jacobs writing in his latest exclusive and extensive Chelsea column for SPTC today, that is exactly what the club are planning to bring in this pending January.
Jacobs mentions Ivan Toney from Brentford and Victor Osimhen from Napoli as two of the players Chelsea are looking at for that established striker position, and there will of course be more names coming up.
Jacobs believes a mid-season move for Toney could become expensive though, at least compared to the £60m he believes clubs could get him for in the summer.
Jacobs says: “As it stands, Chelsea are starting to plan for an established goal scorer. Ivan Toney remains a possibility. A lot will depend on price. Brentford would be looking for around £60m next summer, but a mid-season move, especially if multiple suitors come calling, could raise that number significantly. Some sources even suggest it’s going to take £80m.
“Victor Osimhen could be one to watch as well.”
