Chelsea are closely monitoring the former Premier League star Harry Kane’s situation at the Bayern Munich, according to Football Insider. They have heard that the striker is not happy in Germany and might be tempted to make a return to the English league.

The Blues want to take advantage of the situation and acquire the veteran footballer if any opportunity arises. They would be happy to match the fee (£82m) that the Bavarians paid to sign Kane from club Tottenham Hotspur last year.

Harry Kane needs no introduction

English striker Harry Kane is one of the premium strikers in the football world today. He has been performing consistently at both the national and the club level for several years now. Despite that, he has yet to win major trophies in his career so far.

Kane reportedly left the Spurs in search of trophies and eventually ended up landing at Allianz Arena. He has already scored 29 goals and provided eight assists in 30 games he featured this season. He is averaging 3.4 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).

Despite his individual brilliance, the Bavarians have been struggling this season. They are second in the domestic league, eight points off the table-toppers Bayer Leverkusen. They also lost against Lazio in the first leg of UEFA Champions League Round 16.

Chelsea need a commanding player in attack

Chelsea have done a commendable job by putting together an energetic and talented group. However, they are missing a key figure in the attacking lineup, who can bring dozens of goals. That’s where Harry Kane comes into the picture.

The Blues understand that the striker is frustrated at Bayern Munch because of their poor performance in all the competitions. Hence, he would be open to switching the club and utilising the years he has left in his armoury at the highest level.

If they manage to lure him away, it will be a great signing as they will get a striker who is effective in the penalty area. They already have players who can show a high work load and create chances up front. However, Kane’s history with the Spurs might hinder the chances of getting his signature.
