In a recent report, The Daily Mail mentioned that Chelsea are eyeing a summer move for Real Madrid Castilla defender Rafa Marin. It has been claimed that the Blues are hoping to acquire the services of the Spanish youngster at the end of this season.

Rafa Marin’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football

The 20-year-old came through the youth ranks of Sevilla before joining Real Madrid’s academy in 2016. Marin has featured in 16 matches for the Andalusian outfit this season, finding the back of the net twice for them so far.

The talented teenager has put in a run of impressive displays at the heart of Real Madrid Castilla’s defence. Hence, it is no surprise that a top club like Chelsea are keeping tabs on his progress in the youth ranks of Spanish football.

His current contract at the Madrid club is set to run out next summer. Thus, it makes sense for the Blues to move in for him this year.

Chelsea Eyeing A Summer Move For Marin: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Marin is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the pitch. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and can even play his way out from the back. Marin mainly operates as a central defender but can also function as a left-back if his manager asks him to do so.

However, the Spanish whizkid is still quite raw and would need time before he is ready to feature in the Premier League if Chelsea end up signing him in the future.

There is no doubt that Marin is a prospect to look out for in the coming seasons as he continues to get better on the field. Thus, the Blues would be wise to engineer a move to acquire the services of the gifted starlet at the end of this campaign.

Graham Potter has proven his worth as a good man-manager and would be the perfect man to oversee Marin’s development at Stamford Bridge. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of English football. All in all, Marin has the potential to become a success story at the West London club, so Potter should focus on getting a deal done for him soon.
