Chelsea have appointed Chris Hughes as a first team doctor, Mike Keegan has reported in the Daily Mail.
Hughes has been at the club before, and stepped up to replace Eva Carneiro back in 2015 when she was controversially dismissed.
He’s since worked at Tottenham, with new manager Mauricio Pochettino. That existing connection, as well as his history at the club, will likely have been behind this move.
The medical situation at the club has been a real mess since a bunch of sackings last autumn, with outside medics brought in on a temporary basis since, and hopefully this marks the start of a more organised and professional set up. As well as the long term injuries suffered last season, there were multiple problems with minor issues too, and there really felt like there was major room for improvement in that department.
It should be a cornerstone of the new club the new owners want to build.
