Chelsea and Real Madrid have agreed on a €50m fee to see Mateo Kovačić join the Blues on a permanent deal.

That’s according to a report from MARCA, who claim that the move has also been given the thumbs up from incoming Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.

The Croatian spent last season on loan at Stamford Bridge, so he, like Gonzalo Higuaín, is eligible for a transfer despite their two-window ban.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the deal and added that the fee will include add-ons as well.

Kovačić was very impressive in his debut season in England as he made a whopping 51 appearances and helped Chelsea achieve Europa League glory.

The two sides must come to a total agreement prior to this Sunday, 30 June, before Kovačić’s initial loan comes to an end.

Inter and Milan are currently on standby should the deal not go through in time.
