The 22-year-old’s form has seen him become a full England international, and he’s scored 22 Premier League goals and provided ten assists with one game still to play, meaning he has 32 goal contributions from 33 league games.

Palmer currently ranks second for both goals and assists and will be looking to add to that tally on the final game of the season against Bournemouth.

Palmer wins Young Player of the Season

The former City man is the first Chelsea player to win the award, which was first handed out in the 2019/2020 season.

Before turning 22 Palmer became just the third played in Premier League history aged 21 or under to register 30 goal contributions in a single season.

Palmer has had a superb first season for the Blues.

The records don’t stop there as Palmer surpassed Eden Hazard’s best return in a Chelsea shirt in just his first season at the club, whilst also matching the Chelsea record of Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard with 16 goals at Stamford Bridge in the same campaign.

Palmer took to his Instagram to thank fans for voting for him and said:

“Wow. Big thank you to everyone who voted me the @premierleague young player of the season. Wouldn’t be possible without everyone at the club, my friends & my family 💙🏆”

Palmer faced stiff competition for the award with Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, and Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie all on the shortlist.

Once the domestic season is wrapped up Palmer will be hoping his campaign continues into the summer with a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euro’s surely a certainty now.
