Levi Colwill believes he and Wesley Fofana complement each other really well and described the Frenchman as a really good player.
The duo have been chosen by Enzo Maresca as Chelsea’s first choice defensive pairing, and have started all three Premier League games together.
The Blues are yet to record a clean sheet in the league this season, but they did put in a much improved defensive display against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Colwill is starting his second season in the first team and will be looking to improve on his performances last season, where he played at left back on a number of occasions.
The 21-year-old has taken the number six shirt for the new season after it was vacated by Thiago Silva, and he’s started the campaign well.
Having had so many different defensive partnerships last season through injuries and other circumstances, the Blues will be desperate for some continuity with their centre back pairing.
Colwill and Fofana has the potential to be a really exciting pairing with the duo arguably two of the best young centre backs in Europe.
Maresca has chosen Fofana and Colwill as his first choice centre back pairing.
Speaking on his partnership with the former Leicester man, Colwill believes the pair complement each other well and said he really enjoys playing with the 23-year-old.
“He’s a really good player, I really enjoy playing with him,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“He’s so aggressive and I think we complement each other really well.
“Behind the scenes he’s such a great lad, I get on really well with him and I think everyone in the team gets on really well with him.”

Fofana is starting to show signs of getting back to his best having missed the entire of last season with a serious knee injury, although it will take him time to get fully back up to speed having spent so long out injured.
The pair seem to get on well off the pitch and hopefully that can also transfer into a solid partnership on it, with the Blues really needing to improve defensively this season.
