Chelsea ace Erin Cuthbert has today been named as the BT Scotland Women’s Player of the Year.

The Scottish Football Association made the announcement this morning with Cuthbert having impressed for both club and country.

The 23-year-old helped Chelsea win three trophies during the calendar year, those being the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title, the FA Women’s Continental League Cup and most recently, the Vitality Women’s FA Cup. Cuthbert also came off the bench for The Blues in the 2020/2021 UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Gothenburg.

Cuthbert has shown great versatility during the last year at Chelsea, taking any roles which have been handed to her by manager Emma Hayes in her stride. Cuthbert has very much become a utility player for the South West Londoners, demonstrating that she can play in various attacking and midfield positions, as well as operating in a wing-back role.

For her country, Cuthbert has played every minute of FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 qualifying to date while she has scored in victories over Hungary and the Faroe Islands. She also scored two goals in as many games in UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifying and featured in two international friendlies for The Tartan Army in 2021.

With Cuthbert still being at such a young age, there is so much more to come from the player and she remains one of the top exports to come out of the game north of the border.
