Today is the transfer deadline day for the summer of 2025, with the window closing tonight at 7pm UK time.
Chelsea have a situation in the striker position after Liam Delap went off injured in the Fulham win on Saturday afternoon. It’s unconfirmed at the moment as to how long he will be out for, but initial belief was that it could be for around 6-8 weeks which is quite bad. It might even end up being worse.
So The Blues have needed to find an alternative solution to cover Delap’s injury and that means either sign in, or use a striker they own. It’s probably too late at this point now to sign a new striker, which they should have acted quicker on from Saturday when they knew Delap was injured.
But now they either have the choice of using Nicolas Jackson, who is yet to join a different club, or recall Marc Guiu from Sunderland, which is reportedly set to happen anyway.

I think he’s desperate to leave so he will end up leaving still, and then Chelsea will be left with Joao Pedro and Guiu as the two striker options until Delap is back and remember, he could be out for longer than 8 weeks.
As I said, Chelsea should have signed a new striker as soon as Delap was injured and please don’t tell me there are no options available. Not hearing that.
Guiu is decent, but he’s not better than Jackson. So selling Jackson, and I do get why were are by the way because nobody wants a player who does not want to be here, to replace him with Guiu essentially for the time being, is not strengthening and it is weakening what we have.
