Serie A giants Napoli have been dealt a blow in their attempt to sell striker Victor Osimhen as Chelsea now seem to have dropped out of the chase for the Nigerian.
Osimhen’s sale is crucial for Napoli this summer as the money received from the exit will fund their market and potentially help them bring in Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on a permanent deal as well. While a swap deal was spoken of and was rejected by Osimhen’s agent, Chelsea will now not sign the striker at all.
Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Chelsea are now moving close to signing Samu Omorodion, which has forced them to exit the race for Osimhen.
Paris Saint-Germain are very much in the race and Arsenal could now become a concrete option once again. Saudi Arabia also remains an option for the striker, who is currently not convinced by the destination.
In the meantime, Osimhen is waiting to see whether or not he will be called up for the first official match of the season – the Coppa Italia match against Modena on August 10.
