Chelsea’s summer interest in Everton starlet Anthony Gordon turned the head of the 21-year-old winger, with the Blues still considering a move to add the starlet toGraham Potter’s squad at Stamford Bridge, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs.

The wide man has also been the subject of transfer interest from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur as per the Daily Mail.

Chelsea transfer news – Anthony Gordon

As per Sky Sports, Chelsea were considering paying up to £60m for the services of Gordon in the summer, with the former manager Thomas Tuchel rating him as one of the club’s top targets.

Meanwhile, Football.London reports that the Blues could face competition from Tottenham yet again if they are to make a play for the winger in January, but with issues in the midfield and defence, Potter may be happy to wait until the summer to make a move for the Everton starlet.

The Liverpool-born starlet is currently on Everton’s mid-season training camp in Australia, where he scored a hat-trick in the side’s most recent friendly in a 5-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers.

And Jacobs believes that Gordon fits into Chelsea’s transfer policy of looking for young talent who can sign a five/seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

What has Jacobs said about Gordon and Chelsea?

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “Gordon fits into a mold that Chelsea are looking for, which is long-term talent that can sign a five to seven-year deal and in gaining that longevity rewards back the club with loyalty.

“But the challenge is that when Chelsea first came for Gordon, his head was turned.

“But since then, he’s seen a managerial change, he’s seen a new recruitment think tank being built and at the same time, Armando Broja has already committed his long-term future to the football club.

“And players as a consequence, comparative to the summer, can see the development first-hand.”

Would Gordon be a good signing for Chelsea?

There’s no doubt that Chelsea would love to sign one of England’s brightest young talents, with the seven-time England U21 international enjoying a breakthrough campaign at Goodison Park last season.

Gordon has made 55 appearances for the Toffees since the beginning of last season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists according to Transfermarkt, suggesting that Potter may want a bit more productivity out of the wide man if he was to sign for the west London side.

However, he has also proved that he is a hard worker and a team player, ranking in the top 1% of attacking midfielders/wingers across Europe’s big five leagues and the Champions League and Europa League for blocks made per 90 minutes (1.86) and the top 6% for tackles per 90 minutes (2.11) over the last 365 days, according to FBref.

Therefore, Potter may feel that if he can add some cutting-edge and final product to Gordon’s overall game, he may just have a gem on his hands if Todd Boehly and the Chelsea hierarchy can get a deal done.
