Chelsea duo Marcos Alonso and Timo Werner will ‘definitely’ leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Thomas Tuchel has overseen a mixed bag of a transfer window so far but with the window not closing until September 1, there is still time to add to his side.

What is the latest on Chelsea departures?

Three big names have already left Chelsea so far this summer with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leaving on free transfers while Romelu Lukaku has been loaned back to Inter Milan.

But there remains plenty of players who are surplus to requirements in west London with plenty more big names likely to leave before the deadline.

AC Milan have been strongly linked with a move for winger Hakim Ziyech while Werner has apparently caught the eye of Newcastle United and Arsenal.

Alonso is wanted by Barcelona and the Spaniard is eager to seal a move to the La Liga giants ahead of deadline day, although that will likely depend on Chelsea signing more defenders.

It is the final duo of Werner and Alsonso, who are most likely to leave this summer, according to Phillips.

What has Phillips said about potential sales this summer?

The journalist claims that the aforementioned players are certain to leave Stamford Bridge this summer as the changes continue at Stamford Bridge.

Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Timo [Werner] is going to leave and I think Alonso. Those two are definitely going to leave.”

Can Chelsea afford to lose so many big names?

It has been a significant summer of change for Chelsea so far and that does not look likely to change anytime soon.

The losses of Rudiger and Christensen were disruptive enough and it seems unlikely the Blues would sanction any more defensive departures until new recruits are brought in.

Marc Cucurella is reportedly closing in on a transfer, after the Spaniard’s move to Manchester City broke down, while Leicester’s Wesley Fofana has also been made a primary target.

With Raheem Sterling signing they will likely be all-too-happy to see Werner depart. The German has scored just 23 goals in 89 appearances and is one of the top earners at the club.
