Chelsea fans aren’t exactly doing backflips at the moment.

There’s a quiet understanding that the club is muddling through something of a mess since Todd Boehly took over at Stamford Bridge with on-the-pitch carnage married to what feels like the most chaotic transfer strategy in history.

Not only is the Graham Potter era already threatening to career off the rails, but it feels like every male footballer with a pulse has been linked to the Blues since Roman Abramovich’s exit.

All in all, Chelsea seem to be embodying that most vogue of phrases from a couple of years ago: hot mess.

And it seems as though that even extends down to the small details such as the team’s jerseys with fans not best pleased by the leaks that have made it out regarding their 2023/24 shirts.

Now that we’re bravely striding into the New Year, leaked information about the new designs that will be hitting the shelves in the spring and summer are starting to make it onto the internet.

The ultimate football quiz of 2022

Which 2023/24 Premier League kits have leaked?

And with the experts Footy Headlines as Johnny-on-the-spot as ever, supporters have already been treated to a regular supply of updates regarding upcoming Premier League jerseys.

What will Chelsea’s 2023/24 third kit look like?

Well, on Wednesday, Footy Headlines revealed exclusive information about the 2023/24 Chelsea third kit and were duly able to make a graphic design of the strip that they gauge as having 90% accuracy compared to the eventual final product.

They explain that ‘only small details will be different from the final kit,’ citing potential variations in the collar and sleeve designs, but stress that ‘other elements are 100% accurate.’

The divisive jersey will take on a ‘Mint Foam’ colour scheme with black trimmings, as well as a light grey for various parts of the graphic detailing.

It’s certainly a bold colour from Nike that won’t sit well with everybody, especially as previous mint-coloured Premier League kits such as Leicester City’s 2021/22 away strip have not necessarily proven an instant hit with fans.

And the same can certainly be said of the latest Chelsea third kit images, attracting hundreds of retweets that included some rather choice words about Nike’s colour selection.

Mint isn’t always mint, you follow?

Now, look, every Premier League club has had their fair share of gross jerseys over the last decade and we can’t completely condemn Nike’s design to the scrapheap until we see the final product.

However, with everything that’s going on at Chelsea right now, it’s fair to say that their fans would have been hoping for a slightly more attractive sight to soothe their sore eyes.
