Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is most likely to be sold out of the club’s current midfield options this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Thomas Tuchel has overseen a hectic summer transfer window at Stamford Bridge but further departures could still happen before the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest on Chelsea departures?

Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta finally put to bed rumours of a potential switch to Barcelona this summer on Thursday night when he penned a new two-year contract with the club.

Left-back Marcos Alonso remains strongly linked with the Catalan giants, however, and could become the club’s fourth big-name departure of the summer following the exits of Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Meanwhile, fringe players Billy Gilmour, Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi continue to be linked with moves away with Everton reportedly interested in the trio.

This summer has also seen midfield duo N’Golo Kante and Jorginho enter the final years of their contracts. There was a sense that they may look to cash in on one or both players this summer rather than lose them for free in a year but both still remain.

Jones, however, believes that one is more likely to depart than the other.

What has Jones said about the future of the pair?

The transfer insider understands that Chelsea expected to sell one of them at the start of the transfer window, with Jorginho the most likely to make a move.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I was always told to expect that one of them would probably go. At this stage, it’s most likely to be Jorginho because he’s got the most interest and there’s the potential of him going to Serie A.”

Will Jorginho leave this summer?

The move remains a distinct possibility until the window slams shut.

Juventus have been regularly linked with a move for the 44-cap Italy international and the Serie A giants are apparently ready to step up that interest.

Now 30, it is likely that Chelsea would be willing to sell if a big enough offer came in, especially with the prospect of losing the £110,000 per-week star for nothing in 12 months.

Jorginho has made 188 appearances for the Blues since making the move from Napoli alongside Maurizio Sarri in the summer of 2018. After a tricky first season, his stock rose significantly and is now a huge fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
