Southampton striker Che Adams was delighted with his goal in victory over Everton.

Adams was on target as Saints scored twice in the first half, as the striker added to James Ward-Prowse's first goal of the season, before the visitors were reduced to 10 men in the second period when Lucas Digne was shown a straight red for an ugly tackle on Kyle Walker-Peters.

It's two goals in two games for Adams, but the in-form marksman was quick to hail the collective effort that helped Saints keep a third clean sheet in four games.

“It was a lot of hard work that we put in, and I think we deserved it in the end," he said.

“I think we defended very well from the first minute. The first 20 minutes were very hard, but we dug in and managed to get the win.

“We were very compact and hard to break down, and I think that's what won it in the end.

“We kept possession very well at the end and dug in deep for the three points."
