“He hasn’t turned up and we haven’t heard anything from him either. We don’t know when he will return to training or if he will ever come back. We have no idea,” Eddy Cordier, the club’s general manager, told The Mirror.

After getting over the injuries that kept him sidelined for the past few seasons, the former Real Betis player left Chelsea in June to return to his footballing roots.

It was then that he decided to try his luck in Belgium, his homeland. The player tried out for Zulte Waregem and the Belgian club were delighted to sign him. But now with his disappearance, Cordier no longer trusts the player’s integrity.

“I don’t know if we should continue to trust him because he hasn’t been there since training a few weeks ago and there has been no contact. It is more important that we concentrate on the group of players who are here,” said the Zulte Waregem manager.

In Spain, he played for Betis for two seasons. He arrived in the 2016 winter transfer window, but a year later he left the club due to a lack of playing time.
