Charlton Athletic have been on the up under Nathan Jones.

The Addicks are unbeaten in their last 13 games and haven't tasted defeat since Jones' first game in charge against Reading.

Charlton have moved themselves clear of the relegation zone and can begin to build ahead of next season, which promises to be an exciting one with Jones at the helm.

The Welshman has prioritised solidity since taking charge in order to secure Charlton's place in League One next season, conceding 15 goals in his 14 games in charge compared to the 48 they conceded in the previous 30 games.

It's been a defence-first approach, but with many of Charlton's midfield set to leave the club this summer, Jones will want to bring in a new number 10 to bridge the gap between defence and attack.

Mansfield's Davis Keillor-Dunn has excelled for the Stags, helping them to secure promotion from League Two with a 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley and the Englishman looks more than ready to make the step-up next season.

Charlton will do well to secure Keillor-Dunn's signature with Mansfield set to play League One football next year.

But with the Addicks on the rise and setting their sights on the playoffs, Keillor-Dunn would be the perfect statement of intent signing for Jones' new-look team.

Charlton should look to take advantage of Keillor-Dunn contract situation

Keillor-Dunn has been one of the standout players in League Two this season, scoring 21 goals and providing nine assists for Mansfield.

The midfielder joined Mansfield in January last year, but with his contract only running until 2025, Charlton may sense an opportunity to snap up Keillor-Dunn before he's tied down to a long-term deal.

Mansfield will be keen to keep hold of their star midfielder, especially with the club set to embark on their first season in League One in over 20 years.

But with Keillor-Dunn having the pick of his clubs this summer, Charlton will feel they can offer the 26-year-old progression in his career as they look to mount a challenge for the play-offs.

Charlton set for midfield reinforcement

Charlton loan signings – Tyreeq Bakinson, Louie Watson, Panutche Camara, and Lewis Fiorini – are all set to return to their parent clubs in the summer while captain George Dobson has also agreed a move to Hungarian side Fehérvár FC upon the expiration of his contract this summer, leaving Jones a little of options in the middle of the park.

Charlton are likely to be reinforcing their midfield and Keillor-Dunn would be a brilliant addition – offering them a creative spark and a goalscoring number 10 or attacking midfielder.

The likes of Conor Coventry and Karoy Anderson represent great central midfield options but the Addicks squad does feel like it's lacking in a more attack-minded player to slot in ahead of them.

Jones will be looking to push on next season after steadying the ship at The Valley and in a summer of upheaval for the club, there is a chance to rebuild and remodel this team in the image of the former Luton Town man, with Keillor-Dunn the creative fulcrum of the side.
