Rutherford is in her fourth season with Charlton Athletic after joining the club in summer 2020. The player has represented the South East Londoners on 40 occasions in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she has scored five goals.

The young forward has missed 10 months of football with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury but she returned to the Charlton Athletic matchday squad before the Christmas break. Rutherford will now be hoping to make her competitive return for The Addicks after signing a six-month contract extension with the club.

After signing on again with the South East Londoners, Rutherford said “I’m a South London girl, so it felt like home instantly. I’ve really enjoyed playing for Charlton and the badge, and I’ve got a good connection with all of the fans as well. I’ve always loved engaging with supporters because that’s what makes football really special.”

Charlton Athletic are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Ipswich Town for an Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie.
