Charlton Athletic, Barnsley and Lincoln City are all set to compete for the loan signing of Crystal Palace striker Luke Plange, journalist Alan Nixon has reported.

Plange joined Palace from Derby County back in the 2022 January transfer window, before being loaned back to the rams for the second half of last season.

The 20-year-old was then loaned to Belgian second-tier side Molenbeek in the summer transfer window, and has since scored twice in 16 appearances across all competitions for the club.

Now however, it seems as though the former Arsenal youngster could soon be on the move once again.

According to this latest update, Plange is now set to be recalled by Palace due to a lack of game time, having completed 90 minutes just three times while in Belgium.

It is thought that the striker will then be allowed out on loan again, with League One trio Charlton, Barnsley and Lincoln all keen on his services.

Are these 20 Charlton Athletic facts real or fake?

Real or fake: The club was founded over 125 years ago!

While Barnsley currently occupy a play-off place in the third-tier table, Charlton and Lincoln are 15th and 16th respectively in the current standings.

The Verdict

This does look as though it could be a rather good signing for one of these League One teams.

All three could arguably benefit from an extra attacking spark upfront, if they are to enjoy a strong end to the campaign.

Given the potential that Plange has shown throughout his brief career so far, it does feel as though the 20-year-old could offer something different for one of these teams, especially given he may feel he has a point to prove in the second half of this season.

Indeed, it seems the striker will benefit from playing more regular senior football in League One, so you do get the feeling this ought to make sense for all involved.
