FC Charlotte have pivoted their summer transfer plans after their proposed deal for Feyenoord midfielder Calvin Stengs collapsed.
The 25-year-od Dutchman was heavily linked with a move to MLS but has now confirmed he will stay in the Netherlands.
FC Charlotte are reportedly eyeing a Premier League midfielder as a second option, according to inside Tom Bogert.
“I realized more and more how good I am at Feyenoord and I want to stay there,” said Stengs on his decision.
“I am coming back to Feyenoord and will give everything for the club, my fellow players and the fans. I’m looking forward to the new season and playing in the Champions League.”
According to reports, Newcastle star Miguel Almirón is next on the list for the American club.
They are said to have submitted an initial $10 million bid for the Paraguayan who previously played in MLS with Atlanta United.
