Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Charleroi are looking into selling 32-year-old midfielder Adrien Trebel. The former Anderlecht midfielder signed for the Zebras in the summer, but has so far managed just five appearances and 102 minutes played. There had been reports that he was signed so that the side met the required number of Belgian’s in the squad, but the midfielder had hoped to revive his career with the club.

However, the club now want to sell him in January. If they cannot find a new club for him during the transfer window it is likely that they will look for a termination of his contract.

Trebel broke through in France with Nantes where he made 106 appearances, scoring four times. He then moved to Standard Liege in 2014 and spent two and a half seasons with the side, playing 106 games and scoring 10 goals. Anderlecht signed him January of 2017 to a big contract. The wage became a problem later on in his Anderlecht career, as he found himself left out of the squad as the Mauves tried to move him on. After a loan spell with Lausanne in the second half of the 2022/2023 season he did return to Anderlecht and force his way back into the side under Felice Mazzu.

However, once Mazzu left he was once again forgotten. Ironically, Mazzu is now head coach of Charleroi where he has ended up. It is not yet known if any other Belgian sides will be interested in the midfielder in January.
